A tense situation erupted at the Darsi municipal office in Prakasam district during the filing of nominations, as supporters of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) clashed. Police intervened with a lathi charge to control the situation.
Both TDP and YSRCP candidates, along with their supporters, arrived at the municipal office simultaneously today to file their nominations for the municipal elections. This led to a heated exchange of slogans and a scuffle between the two party cadres.
The volatile situation escalated during the nomination filing process itself. A large crowd of supporters from both parties gathered outside the office, engaging in arguments that further intensified the atmosphere.
Police initially attempted to pacify the two groups. However, as the activists refused to disperse, law enforcement resorted to a lathi charge to scatter the crowd.
Following the lathi charge, the tense situation at the location somewhat subsided. The nomination process is currently ongoing.
