State Information Commissioner PS Naidu participated in a reservoir cleaning drive at Meghadrigedda Reservoir in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. He urged everyone to work together to prevent water pollution and protect water bodies.

Naidu said safeguarding water resources is not solely a government responsibility but a shared social duty for all. He stated that keeping water bodies clean and educating the public about the harmful effects of carelessly dumping waste into them is necessary.

Expressing concern over rising water pollution, Naidu said plastic waste, chemicals, and garbage discarded into reservoirs contaminate drinking water. This contamination endangers aquatic life and poses serious health risks to the public.

He pointed out that the accumulation of waste in water bodies can lead to various health problems. Naidu called for coordinated efforts to address and prevent these issues.

The reservoir cleaning initiative was organized jointly by Simhadri TMT, Hima Humanitarian Association, and local youth.

The State Information Commissioner appealed to the public to consider water resource protection a collective responsibility and actively participate in conservation efforts.
