Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said a Cabinet sub-committee will study moving the Mudiraj community from the BC-D to the BC-A category. He spoke on Thursday at the birth anniversary celebrations of Panduga Sayanna in Hyderabad. He said the change failed earlier for lack of accurate data, and that the Cabinet will discuss it at its next meeting.
Call to back Rahul Gandhi
Revanth said the next general elections are crucial for the country and asked people to support Rahul Gandhi. He said Bahujans will be empowered only if Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister. He said his government's caste survey helps communities press their demands. He also said statues of Panduga Sayanna and Doddi Komuraiah will soon be installed on Tank Bund.
On rice prices
The CM said El Nino had pushed fine rice to ₹95 a kg. He said the state gives fine rice to about 3.48 crore people and pays ₹12,000 an acre under Rythu Bharosa, against ₹10,000 under the previous BRS government's Rythu Bandhu.
What the opposition says
Earlier this month, BRS leader T. Harish Rao alleged that fine rice prices had risen 25 per cent in four months. He asked the government to act against hoarding and black marketing, saying farmers do not get fair prices and consumers do not get affordable ones. The BRS and BJP had not responded to Thursday's remarks at the time of writing.
