Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy joined the Jamboo Savari procession in Mysore on Wednesday, the final day of the ten-day Mysore Dasara festival in Karnataka. Revanth Reddy took part in the Mysore Dasara celebrations on the same day the Jamboo Savari closed the event.
Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. had invited Revanth Reddy to the state’s Nada Habba celebration. Revanth Reddy attended with his family after accepting that invitation. The Mysore Dasara festival runs for ten days in Karnataka; Wednesday was the last day, capped by the Jamboo Savari parade.
On the final day of Nada Habba, Revanth Reddy and his family offered prayers to the festival idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari. The idol was enshrined in a golden howdah atop a beautifully decorated elephant that moved at the front of the procession.
Folk artists, musical groups, dance troupes, and various cultural performers reflecting Kannada culture performed during the procession. The Jamboo Savari route carried those performances alongside the elephant bearing the Chamundeshwari idol through Mysore.
Revanth Reddy watched the festivities along with Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and several other dignitaries from India and abroad. Chief ministers from Telangana and Kerala were among the guests who viewed the closing-day parade on Wednesday.
Shiva Kumar greeted the Telangana chief minister at the celebrations during Revanth Reddy’s visit to Mysore for Dasara. The greeting took place while Revanth Reddy was in Karnataka at the invitation of Chief Minister D.K.
The Jamboo Savari ends Mysore Dasara each year with the Chamundeshwari idol in the golden howdah on the decorated elephant. This year’s final-day procession in Mysore drew Revanth Reddy, his family, Satheesan, and other dignitaries invited to Karnataka’s state festival.
Revanth Reddy was on the festival ground on Wednesday as the state marked Nada Habba, the Karnataka state festival tied to the Dasara observance in Mysore. His participation in the Jamboo Savari came after Karnataka’s chief minister extended the invitation for the closing ceremonies.
At the festival, the procession combined the religious focus on the Chamundeshwari idol with public cultural displays. Musical groups and dance troupes joined folk artists along the parade path as part of the same Jamboo Savari event Revanth Reddy attended with his family.
