Roop Kumar Yadav filed his nomination as the NDA alliance candidate for the Nellore Municipal Corporation elections on Saturday. This action followed the official announcement by the party leadership.
Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board chairman S Abdul Aziz accompanied him during the nomination filing. The event in Nellore drew a crowd.
The Nellore Municipal Corporation has expanded its jurisdiction from 54 divisions to 72 divisions. This expansion has increased the electoral importance of the upcoming polls.
Out of the total divisions, 32 fall under the Nellore City Assembly constituency. State municipal administration minister Dr Ponguru Narayana represents this constituency.
Another 32 divisions are within the Nellore Rural Assembly constituency. Three-time legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy represents this constituency.
Minister Narayana and MLA Kotamreddy both committed to ensuring a large victory for the NDA nominee. Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Kovur TDP MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy also support Yadav's candidacy.
