Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) workers are strongly objecting to the government's decision to sell the corporation's assets to clear accumulated dues. Transport Minister Ponnam announced on October 17, 2026, that these measures are being taken to pay the dues owed to retired employees.

It is reported that over Rs. 10,000 crore in dues have accumulated in TSRTC. Of this, Rs. 2,000 crore is owed to retired employees.

Minister Ponnam stated that the government has a responsibility to ensure that retired employees do not face financial difficulties and receive their due benefits. He clarified that if necessary, valuable lands belonging to the corporation would be sold to pay the dues to retired employees.

While leaders of labor unions applauded the minister's announcement, TSRTC workers have expressed strong objections. They are concerned that selling the corporation's assets will harm the organization in the long run.

Although paying dues to retired employees is important, workers are worried that selling the corporation's assets will impact TSRTC's financial stability in the future. They believe this decision will undermine the corporation's ability to provide better transport services to the people of Telangana.
