The State Election Commission (SEC) has invited representatives from 20 political parties for a consultative meeting on Tuesday to discuss the local body election process. This meeting is crucial for addressing key aspects of election conduct.
According to The Times of India, the SEC is expediting the process as the state government intends to conduct the elections based on the pre-revision electoral rolls.
With the Election Commission of India (ECI) expected to release the final electoral rolls on October 16, the state government aims to ensure that the local body election notification is issued before this date.
The state government is likely to publish the final reservation details in the gazette and submit the data to the SEC on Monday, which will facilitate the SEC in releasing the election schedule.
The Model Code of Conduct will come into force across the state once the election schedule is announced. The SEC is preparing to complete the election process within a short timeframe to minimize disruption to administration and ensure timely conduct of the elections.
The local body elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana directly impact public representation and local governance, making this a significant development for citizens.
