Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila was placed under house arrest by the police today. According to AP7AM, these measures were taken to prevent the 'Chalo Raj Bhavan' program organized by the INDIA bloc in Vijayawada.

AP7AM reported that a large number of police personnel were deployed at her residence in Kesarapalli, near Gannavaram, since morning. The police clarified that there was no permission for this protest program.

The INDIA bloc called for this protest, alleging large-scale deletion of names from the voters' list and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

The INDIA bloc had decided to organize a march from Lenin Center in Vijayawada to Raj Bhavan at 10 AM today. However, the police denied permission for this program.

This development has become a topic of discussion in Andhra Pradesh politics. Criticisms are being raised regarding the obstruction of opposition protest programs.

This house arrest impacts political activities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, especially concerning the organization of protests during election periods, and similar incidents may recur in the future.
