A road in Srinagar Colony, Hyderabad, was reportedly dug up just six days after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) relaid it, according to Hyderabad Mail. This incident has raised questions regarding the coordination between the GHMC and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).
Residents informed Hyderabad Mail that utility work crews arrived soon after the road work was completed and began excavating the newly laid stretch. They questioned why the departments did not complete the utility work before relaying the road.
The incident has renewed concerns over repeated road cutting for water, sewerage, and other utility works. Residents have questioned the decision to cut the road so soon after it was laid.
Such excavations inconvenience commuters and can damage newly laid roads, residents told Hyderabad Mail. This can lead to a reduction in the lifespan of the roads.
This incident highlights the need for improved planning and coordination among civic bodies in Hyderabad. This would help prevent unnecessary inconvenience to citizens and reduce the wastage of public funds.
