The state government has issued orders establishing a new committee for water management, with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka as its chairman. Seethakka has been appointed as a member of this panel.

Officials are prioritizing an uninterrupted drinking water supply in rural areas. This initiative comes amid concerns that El Nino conditions could impact rainfall and increase strain on groundwater resources.

The department is assessing current water availability and implementing preventative measures. Efforts are also underway to improve groundwater levels and maximize rainwater harvesting.

Water conservation methods include the construction and upkeep of recharge pits, farm ponds, and percolation tanks. These structures are designed to enhance water storage.

The committee will regularly review the situation and provide guidance to the relevant departments. It will also propose additional actions to the government.

Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, and Vakiti Srihari are also part of the committee.
