The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has accused YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) cadres of resorting to violence during the local body elections in the Rayalaseema region. A TDP delegation met State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha on Saturday to submit a complaint regarding these incidents.
The delegation included TDP politburo member and MLC Varla Ramaiah, former MLC Parchuri Ashok Babu, and APEWIDC Chairman S. Rajasekhar, among others. They presented a memorandum to the Commissioner detailing their concerns.
TDP leaders urged the immediate arrest of MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy in connection with an incident that took place in Punganur. They also requested that restrictions be imposed on his movements until the completion of the election process.
Varla Ramaiah alleged that Mithun Reddy entered the nomination center accompanied by armed followers. Ramaiah further claimed that the MP intimidated the returning officer during the incident.
