The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party will contest the upcoming local body elections together. Jana Sena MLA Bolisetty Srinivas announced that discussions with Chief Minister and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu were successful.
Srinivas stated that the understanding reached was that the alliance should win wherever it was strong, while ensuring that the sentiments of either party were not hurt. He added that decisions on who should contest from where would be based on local conditions.
He clarified that they are contesting the local body elections with a single agenda and that there was consensus in their discussions. Srinivas also mentioned that the parties have not fixed any specific number of seats for each to contest.
A decision on the seats would be announced in two days after another round of discussions to finalize the arrangement. Subsequently, the alliance would announce its list of candidates, he said.
Srinivas further made it clear that the understanding between the allies was not confined to local body elections alone, and they would continue together in the next general elections as well.
This alliance marks a significant development in the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The outcomes of these local body elections are expected to have a considerable impact on future political dynamics in the region.
