The Telangana Cabinet has taken crucial decisions to advance irrigation projects and streamline incomplete works in the state, v6velugu.com reported. A cabinet meeting was held on Thursday at the Secretariat, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Administrative approvals have been granted for Rs. 1,017 crores for the remaining works of the Mukteshwar (Chinnakaleshwaram) Lift Irrigation Scheme in the Manthani constituency, based on revised estimates as per the 2026-27 SSR.

This scheme, which will lift 4.50 TMC of water from the Godavari at Kannepalli, will see the old EPC package concluded on an 'as is where is' basis, with new work including the linking of eight tanks.

The project will also involve a canal network of 238.67 km, lining works, and the construction of 19.10 km of MS pressure mains in place of GRP pipes, according to v6velugu.com.

In addition to giving the green light to the Kollapur canals, the Cabinet also decided to increase the capacity of the 'Nalla Somanadri Gattu Lift Irrigation Scheme' to 3 TMC.

These decisions are poised to significantly benefit farmers in the Manthani and Kollapur regions of Telangana by improving the availability of irrigation water.
