Telangana state underwent a district reorganization in October 2016, dividing the ten erstwhile districts into 33. According to Namasthe Telangana, this decision was made with the aim of bringing administration closer to the people.
As per Namasthe Telangana's report, previously, it was a significant burden for people to travel to the district headquarters to bring their issues to the attention of officials. With this reorganization, people can now more easily communicate their problems to the authorities.
Namasthe Telangana stated that during their tenure, collectors did not have the opportunity to visit all the villages in the entire district. This led to difficulties in supervising development and welfare programs.
According to the 2011 census, the state's population was 3.50 crore. Namasthe Telangana reported that the government's creation of 23 new districts for administrative convenience, as well as for development, welfare, and continuous supervision, was an administrative revolution.
Namasthe Telangana also indicated that by increasing the number of districts in Telangana, there is an opportunity to receive additional educational institutions and other benefits from the central government.
This district reorganization has enhanced administrative convenience for the people of Telangana, ensuring that development and welfare programs reach them more effectively.
