Telangana is currently facing financial challenges, Ramakanth Vuriti stated on October 17, 2026. The state's treasury is experiencing a difficult period, and addressing the backlog of payments has become a challenge for the government. Immediate payments exceeding Rs 8,500 crore are due, with an additional Rs 7,500 crore in unrecorded bills. The total outstanding amount has accumulated to over Rs 16,000 crore.

This financial strain is causing delays in payments to employees and retired staff. Health services under Arogyasri are facing disruptions, and students are concerned about fee reimbursement. The government is also under pressure from its own party leaders. Ramakanth Vuriti said that increasing expenditures, along with loans and interest, are adding to the burden on the state's financial system.
