The Telangana government has issued significant directives to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) concerning the welfare of its employees. These directives aim to address a wide range of pending worker, housing, healthcare, and settlement-related issues.
According to Urban Acres, while these measures may appear administrative on the surface, their breadth demonstrates how the operation of a major mining company is closely tied to the welfare and physical condition of the communities built around it.
During a review meeting with SCCL, the government directed the company to complete employment orders for 250–300 dependants within 15 days.
It also urged officials to adopt a humane approach in approximately 136–170 cases involving changes in the names of dependants.
Monthly medical boards are to be held at all area hospitals to accelerate medical invalidation procedures. These procedures determine whether employees qualify for support or dependent employment on medical grounds.
These decisions point to a system where employment benefits, medical certification, and family welfare are interconnected. These measures directly benefit workers and their families in the Singareni regions of Telangana.
