In light of potential changes in weather conditions due to the El Nino effect, the state government aims to educate farmers on alternative crops and further promote horticulture, according to Andhraprabha Daily.
Plans are being made to establish a factory in each combined district, Andhraprabha Daily stated. The government is also encouraging cocoa as an intercrop in oil palm plantations.
Efforts are underway to set up procurement centers, Andhraprabha Daily reported. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao held a review meeting with horticulture and Oilfed officials at the secretariat.
The increasing area under horticulture cultivation in the state is a positive development, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao noted, as per Andhraprabha Daily. He urged Telangana to increase vegetable production to the extent of exporting to other states.
These initiatives will provide alternative income sources for farmers in Telangana and contribute to the state's economy.
