Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka raised several key issues on behalf of the state at the 57th GST Council meeting held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
He appealed to the central government to ensure that proposed changes in the GST system do not harm the financial interests of the states, as reported by Samayam Telugu.
While welcoming GST reforms, Bhatti Vikramarka suggested that the impact of their implementation on state revenues should be assessed in advance.
He specifically requested that the financial impact on states be clearly disclosed before making changes to refund rules related to motor vehicles, capital goods, and input services.
Bhatti Vikramarka reminded the council that GST constitutes a significant share of Telangana's own tax revenue.
This revenue funds critical sectors such as education, health, welfare, and infrastructure, indicating that GST changes could impact the state's development, according to Samayam Telugu.
