Koyyala Ruth John Paul, a transgender woman from Telangana, has successfully completed her postgraduate degree in emergency medicine in Hyderabad, overcoming significant personal and professional hurdles.

Ruth faced immense hardship from a young age, losing her father early in life. Her mother worked tirelessly as a daily-wage labourer to support the family. Despite these challenges, Ruth excelled academically, consistently topping her class until Class 12.

She later pursued an MBBS degree at a private medical college in Hyderabad. It was during her third year of MBBS, at the age of 20, that Ruth came out as transgender.

Her journey to completing her MD was aided by a Telangana High Court order, highlighting the persistent barriers transgender candidates encounter in both medical education and employment.

Koyyala Ruth John Paul's achievement serves as an inspiring example for the transgender community in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, underscoring the ongoing struggle for equal opportunities and recognition within society.
