The TG-SAFE enforcement wing, along with food safety officials and police personnel, conducted surprise inspections at 20 restaurants in Hyderabad. During these raids, seven hotel licenses were suspended, and 20 food samples were collected to investigate suspected adulteration.

TG-SAFE officials identified several deficiencies in various hotels, including unhygienic kitchen conditions, infestations of cockroaches and flies, rotten vegetables, and negligence in storing food items. Many practices harmful to public health came to light during these inspections.

As part of the inspections, officials found damaged floors and stagnant water in several hotel kitchens. Greasy walls, exhaust fans, and chimneys were also noted, along with the presence of cockroaches and flies, indicating unsanitary environments.

In some locations, vegetables were found to be rotten, while in others, fungus was visible on food items. Officials also observed vegetarian and non-vegetarian items stored together in refrigerators, expired food products, and cooked food placed on newspapers.

These actions, such as placing cooked food on newspapers, were deemed harmful to public health by the officials. The licenses of seven hotels were suspended due to these significant violations.

These inspections underscore the urgent need to improve food safety standards in restaurants and hotels across Telangana. It is crucial to ensure that the food consumed by the public is safe and hygienic.
