Visakhapatnam District Collector Kishore announced that polling for the municipal corporation elections will be held on October 28. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm on the designated day.
The counting of votes is scheduled to begin at 8 am on October 30. Collector Kishore shared these details with the media, accompanied by GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg and Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi.
So far, seven nominations have been received for the mayor's seat, and 331 nominations have been submitted for corporator posts. The administration is preparing for the electoral process.
More than 10,000 polling personnel have been identified for election duties. The first phase of their training has been completed. Personnel will be allotted their specific election duties through a randomisation process.
The administration has appointed 41 returning officers and 41 assistant returning officers to oversee the elections. All necessary arrangements are being made for a smooth conduct of the polls.
Officials are ensuring that the election process is transparent and fair. The Collector urged all eligible voters to exercise their franchise.
