Visakhapatnam MP Bharat has defended the proposed beach shacks in the city, arguing that tourism development should not be held back by fear and negative campaigning.
Speaking to Gulte's Nishant in an exclusive interview, Bharat stated that Visakhapatnam has considerable potential to grow into a major tourism destination.
The beach shacks proposal has faced criticism from opposition parties and some public groups over the proposed sale of alcohol near the coastline.
Critics have raised concerns about public safety, women’s security, and the impact on the family-friendly atmosphere of the beaches.
According to Gulte, Bharat said the concern, in his view, is not simply about the project but about creating a negative perception around new development ideas.
He argued that Visakhapatnam needs to make better use of its coastline and tourism potential to generate economic activity, which could offer new attractions for tourists from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
