The YSRCP has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court, seeking an extension of the nomination deadline for the Andhra Pradesh municipal elections. The petition was filed on October 19.
In its petition, the YSRCP requested that additional centers be established for filing nominations and that protection be provided to its candidates. The party alleged that obstacles were created during the nomination process.
The High Court had previously dismissed a petition, stating that the nomination deadline had already passed and intervention at this stage would disrupt the election process. The YSRCP challenged the High Court's order in the Supreme Court.
The YSRCP questioned the Andhra Pradesh High Court's refusal to extend the nomination deadline in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is expected to hear the matter further.
