Google is developing a $15-billion artificial intelligence (AI) data-centre project in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This massive project is expected to become operational by 2028, marking a significant milestone for the state.
The project is planned as the company’s largest AI hub outside the United States. It forms part of Google’s planned $15-billion investment in India from 2026 to 2030.
This AI data-centre project is planned as a gigawatt-scale campus spanning more than 600 acres across three sites, in partnership with the Adani Group. Data centres house computer servers, storage systems, and networking equipment that process and store digital information.
AI computing uses such infrastructure to train and run machine-learning systems. This facility will serve as a hub for cutting-edge technology.
This substantial investment will bring significant economic and technological benefits to the regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is expected to create job opportunities and position the region prominently on the global AI map.
