The Union Government has approved the implementation of a new automatic toll collection technology on national highways in Telangana, similar to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) system. This new method will ensure that motorists pay tolls only for the actual distance they travel. Entry and exit points will be established every 15-18 kilometers. This decision was made during a meeting between State Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at the Chintan Shivir in Gujarat.
Officials said this new toll system aims to reduce road accidents with a goal of 'zero fatalities'. The project received swift approvals from the Centre. The implementation of this automatic technology is expected to ease the financial burden on commuters and make travel more convenient. Authorities anticipate that this system will also improve traffic management on national highways.
