Uday Ruddaraju, an alumnus of Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) in Hyderabad, has been appointed to a significant leadership role at OpenAI. With Sachin Katti stepping down, OpenAI has named Ruddaraju to lead its infrastructure and computing operations.
A computer science graduate, Ruddaraju will now be instrumental in expanding OpenAI's computing capacity to support its advanced AI models. He joined OpenAI in 2025 and will oversee the critical computing infrastructure.
Before joining OpenAI, Ruddaraju built his career across prominent companies like eBay and Robinhood. In 2024, he joined Elon Musk’s xAI. Now, he will be responsible for the computing infrastructure that powers OpenAI’s ambitious AI endeavors.
Sachin Katti will continue his association with OpenAI in an advisory capacity. Ruddaraju's appointment is set to strengthen the foundational infrastructure crucial for OpenAI's artificial intelligence development.
