JNTU Hyderabad campus is utilizing an advanced technique called reverse borewells to enhance groundwater levels. This method involves collecting rainwater and directing it into the earth to replenish aquifers.

Typically, groundwater levels in Hyderabad city decrease during the summer months, leading to residents relying on water tankers.

However, the situation at the JNTU campus is different. Despite the effects of El Niño and drought conditions, the campus maintains abundant groundwater.

This success is attributed to the university's innovative rainwater harvesting system. The reverse borewells effectively channel rainwater underground.
