The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday, November 4, searched seven premises in Hyderabad and Secunderabad in Telangana and in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The case concerns alleged irregularities in the evaluation of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group-I Mains answer scripts. The ED registered it under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Who was searched
- P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu (PSR Anjaneyulu), a 1992-batch IPS officer who was APPSC Secretary at the time. Deccan Chronicle says he is the prime accused in the ED case.
- P. Madhusudhana Rao, managing director of CamSign Media, which got the evaluation work.
- Haailand resort at Chinakakani village, Guntur district, where the scripts were allegedly kept and evaluated.
- TruGrader Services, which did APPSC's earlier digital evaluation; Akella Peri Srinivasa Rao, MD of its parent company; and Mahamkali Raghuram, who worked on the evaluation.
The allegations
The case covers the Group-I Mains for 169 posts between 2018 and 2021. Suryaraopet police in Vijayawada registered a case in April 2025 based on an SIT report. Deccan Chronicle reports the SIT found the scripts were kept at the resort for 84 days and that 66 unqualified people were used to transfer pre-decided marks onto OMR sheets. Police allege over ₹1.14 crore was paid to CamSign Media and ₹1.38 crore to other private entities.
Background
Anjaneyulu later headed police intelligence with the rank of DGP under the previous government. PTI says state police arrested him in this case. No response from Anjaneyulu, the YSRCP or the TDP to the searches had been reported. Deccan Chronicle said searches were continuing.
